Runestone Sigurdsristningen, Ramsunda in Södermanland, SÖ101 - Sweden - No.20
Sigurd's carving, rune carving in the municipality of Jäder northeast of Eskilstuna, right next to Sundbyholm Castle, from the 11th century. The images depict various episodes from the saga of Sigurd Fafnesbane, while the text is about the construction of a bridge over the Ramsund. In the carving you can see Sigurd, on the orders of his foster father Regin, thrusting his sword into Fafner's stomach to get to the snake's treasure. When Sigurd tries to roast Fafner's heart, he burns himself. He puts his finger in his mouth and then drinks the snake's blood, which helps him understand what the birds in the tree are saying. They tell of Regin's betrayal and that Sigurd should keep the treasure himself. Sigurd kills Regin by cutting off his head (on the left of the carving there is a man with a severed head). He loads the treasure onto Grane (the horse is tied to a tree) and rides away. The inscription reads: Sigurd built this bridge , the mother of Alrik, the daughter of Orm, for the soul of Holmger, the father of her husband Sigröd.
